Jeff West is both a visual effects artist as well as a formally trained artist and illustrator.
After studying art at Point Loma College in San Diego, West began his career designing T-shirts for college sports teams and drawing caricatures at amusement parks. He then went on to serve as the lead visual effects artist on the POWER RANGERS television series, and contributed to such hits as ANGEL, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH, WEIRD SCIENCE, FRIENDS, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, SPELLBOUND, CARNIVALE, and SIX FEET UNDER.
West worked extensively on the smash hit TV series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and recently contributed visual effects work to the series CHARMED, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, and OVER THERE.
His feature film credits include Stephen Sommers' gothic fantasy-horror VAN HELSING, Tony Scott's dramatic thriller MAN ON FIRE, as well as the films THE PUNISHER, SIMON BIRCH, and KNOCKOFF.
He worked as a storyboard artist on the hit WB series SMALLVILLE, and on such telefilms as BIRDS OF PREY and VAMPIRE BATS. He also has numerous commercials (Mazda, Vibe) and music videos (DMX, Sheryl Crow, In Sync) to his credit.
West has worked with such companies as Modern VideoFilm, Encore Hollywood, Zoic Studios, and the Howard Anderson Co. He currently freelances as a graphic artist and book illustrator, providing numerous storyboards, conceptual designs, and other creative work for independent films, rock bands, and comic books.
